The Coast team likes to keep up with forums to see what the park home community is talking about, and we stumbled across an interesting thread on The Park Home Forum site about making the most of your garden area.
Many residential park home owners have a plot that includes some outdoor space and it can be tricky knowing how to make the most of this. Whilst the communal grounds tend to be cared for by your site operator, it’s usually up to residents to maintain and cultivate their private gardens surrounding their park home.
The thread was started when a forum editor advised park home owners not to plant shrubs or trees against the exterior walls of their house, as it can lead to problems with damp. This started a discussion on how to make the most of your plot if you’re green fingered, with forum users offering great tips like these:
• If you want to use climbing plants, erect an archway in your garden instead of running them up the side of your park home
• Arranging pot plants together can create a colourful display that’s easy to maintain
• If you’ve just bought a previously owned park home, don’t be tempted to dig up the garden straight away – wait until spring and summer set in to see whether there are already attractive plants waiting to emerge
Before you plant anything in your park home garden it’s important to check your site regulations, as there may be restrictions on what you’re permitted to do with your garden.
